How do you gain traffic?

How do you gain traffic to your forum? Do you use topsites, link directories or do you just advertise on other forums?

I think a great advertising tip is to use your signature well on forums. When you make posts, your signature will be showing and having a link visible will gain you traffic, even if it's just a few clicks.

I usually just promote on other Forum Promotion sites, and I join sites that are a similar niche to mine and I'll have a link in my signature there.

I don't use promotion sites as much as i used to, I update the adverts every now and then and I request packages if I need to. I mostly use Twitter, Facebook, Topsites, Affiliate exchanges now.
